Short Bio:
Nair de Sousa is a young Angolan woman who has passion and genuine enthusiasm for reinforcing girls´ education. She devotes most of her time to building her skills in oilfields management for Carbon Capture Utilisation and Geoconservation, which are her great passions. In this way, she uses her knowledge to help other young women to succeed in their careers. Nair has been contributing to the Sustainable Development of her country by being the Founder of the Angolan Society of Geosciences and Technology, an organization that aims to capacity-building and involve more women in the Energy Sector. Nair is a geoscientist and researcher who advocates for Policy Development of low-cost technologies that reduce the worst impacts of Climate Change in countries of emerging economies that present more challenges for the energy transition path. Her most recent research “Opportunities for Carbon Capture Projects in Angola” demonstrates the potential of Angola in contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and is part of her approach to a proposed National Plan for regulatory frameworks in the Energy Sector in Angola as part of her outreach to stakeholders and government officials. Nair is graduated with BSc. Petroleum Geology and decided to further her studies in Academic Writing in Geosciences (EUS), MSc. Reservoir Evaluation and Management in the United Kingdom. She now intends to take a PhD in Energy Risk Management.
